Coach Melissa started her coaching career in 1995 and joined the Colorado Spring Altitude Volleyball coaching staff in 2004. Prior to Colorado Springs Altitude Volleyball Club, she spent 9 years coaching at Match Point Volleyball Club. Within her coaching career she was also the Head Varsity Volleyball; Coach at Elbert High School for 2 years, qualifying for postseason both years and at St. Mary’s Catholic High School for 14 years, getting to the postseason each year and qualifying for the State Volleyball Tournament 11 of those years. Melissa was delighted to receive Coach of the Year several times at the High School level and coached for the All-State Colorado volleyball tournament.
Family
Melissa is married to Chris Sweeney and has been married for 32 years. She has three daughters Bria, Taralynn, and Abigail, and six grandchildren. Bria is married to Gene and lives in Noble, Oklahoma. They have four littles: Rylee, Raegan, Rowdy, and Rhett. Taralynn is married to Kasey. They live in Peyton, Colorado, and have two little ones, Houston and the newest addition, Leighton Grace. Taralynn also coaches for Colorado Springs Altitude. Abby is a junior majoring in Psychology and attends Oklahoma University.
Hobbies
Hiking the amazing trails around our home, walking around our neighborhood, reading, spending time with family/friends, coaching volleyball, and creating “honey-do lists” for Chris.
Biggest Influence in my Life
I have many that come to mind. I guess it just comes down to the fact that I am blessed to have amazing people that come into my life at the right times.
